4.2 GENERAL INFORMATION
Please note the following about recording audio.
§
Turn off the StartREC 400, and all devices connected to the StartREC 400 (monitoring system, audio
source, etc.), before patching them together.
§
Never turn off the StartREC 400 while it is recording. Microboards strongly recommends purchasing
an uninterruptible power supply to insure a consistent flow of power to the StartREC 400.
§
You cannot record more than 99 tracks, the maximum allowed by the Red Book CD specification.
However, you can use the Combine function to combine tracks, thereby reducing the number of tracks.
§
Tracks less than 4 seconds cannot be recorded.
§
If duplicating a commercial CD, please respect the copyright laws and set the SCMS (Serial Copy
Management System) to Prohibit, to discourage unauthorized digital duplication.
Do not duplicate
copyrighted material, except with prior written permission of the copyright holders.
§
Record only to CD-R media. The StartREC 400 is not designed to record to CD-RW media.
§
CD-Rs must be blank. The StartREC 400 cannot add data to a previously-recorded CD-R.
§
If you use a source taken via the Copy or Track Extraction menu in the Audio menu, the StartREC 400
edits its TOC (Table of Contents) to make using the Audio menu possible. This will be a different
TOC compared to the original source.
