TABLE 2 - TROUBLESHOOTING CHART – POWERING UP PROBLEMS
SYMPTOMS
POSSIBLE CAUSE(S)
SOLUTION
No LEDs, beep or motor spin.
1 - No power is being supplied to
the scanner.
2 - Bad Decode board.
1 – Check transformer, outlet and power strip. Make
sure the cable is plugged in to the scanner.
2 – Check Fuse on Decode Board / Replace fuse.
2a – Replace Decode Board.
No LEDs, beep.
1 – No power is being supplied to
the scanner front host.
1 – Some host systems cannot supply enough current to
power Omni-Quest. Use the power supply included
with the scanner.
3 beeps on power up.
1 – Non-volatile RAM failure.
1 – Contact a Metrologic Representative, if the unit will
not hold the programmed configuration.
Continuous razz tone on
power up.
1 – RAM or ROM failure.
1 – Contact a Metrologic Representative, if the unit will
not function.
Razz tone and green LED
flash at power up.
1 – VLD failure.
1 – Replace VLD
1a – Replace Signal Processor Board.
Razz tone and both LEDs
flash at power up.
1 – Scanner motor failure.
2 – Bad Decode board.
1 – Check to ensure motor is proper connected into
decode board.
1a – Verify Motor Housing is able to spin freely and is
not obstructed by any objects/wires.
1b – Replace Motor Assembly.
2 – Replace defective Decode board.
Red LED blinking. Green
LED is not lit.
1 – Ribbon cable between signal
processor board and decode
board is not fully connected.
2 – VLD cable problem.
3 – Defective optics module.
4 – Unit programmed settings are
incorrect.
1 – Check and reinstall ribbon cable.
2 – Check VLD cable for any damage. Reinstall VLD
cable.
3 – Replace defective optics module.
4 – Load Default scanner settings using Metroset.
