6 Troubleshooting
6.1 Problems and their solutions
Problem Cause Remedy
Marked drop in
pressure Leak in the system. Check and seal connections (see Chapter 3.6,
page 20) .
Marked rise in pres-
sure 6.2821.120 inline filter
blocked. Replace 6.2821.130 filter (see Chapter 5.6,
page 91) .
MSM-HC – blocked.

Regenerate the MSM-HC (see Chapter
5.11.3.1, page 96) .
Note: 6.2821.180 pump tubing connection
with filter must be used .
Conductivity detector
blocked.

Shorten capillary ends by several mm (see
Chapter 5.14.1, Page 105) .

Rinse detector against the normal flow
direction
(see Chapter 5.14.1, Page 105) .
Guard column – blocked. Replace guard column (see Chapter 3.23,
page 70) .
Separation column –
blocked.

Note: Samples should always be microfiltered

attained. Condition (see Chapter 3.17, page 52) instru-
ment with the column thermostat switched
on .
Leak in the system. Check and seal connections (see Chapter 3.6,
page 20) .
