4. Check the oil pressure gauge immediately after the engine
starts. If oil pressure is not within the specified range, see
Specifications
, stop the engine immediately, and determine
cause.
5. If the engine is cold, allow the engine to run for three minutes.
6. After the engine has warmed up, check the water temperature
gauge to ensure that the engine temperature is not abnormally
high. If it is, stop the engine immediately and determine cause.
7. Ensure that the charging system is functioning correctly.
8. Observe the power package for fuel, oil, water, and exhaust
leaks.
9. To shift the drive unit into gear, move the control/shift lever
with a firm, quick motion forward to shift to forward gear, or
backward to shift to reverse. After shifting the drive unit,
advance the throttle to the desired setting.
10.To shift the drive unit out of gear, throttle the engine back to
idle speed, then move the control/shift lever to neutral. If the
engine has been operating at high speed for a long period of
time, allow the engine to cool by running at idle speed for three
to five minutes.
11.Turn key switch to "OFF."
Operation Chart
1.
Before Starting
Open the engine hatch.
Turn battery switch "ON," if equipped.
Operate bilge blowers, if equipped.
Open fuel shut off valve.
Open seacock, if equipped.
Perform all other checks specified by your dealer and/or
boat builder.
2.
After Starting
Observe all gauges to check condition of engine. If not
normal, stop engine.
Check for fuel, oil, water, fluid and exhaust leaks, etc.
