Do not breathe the fuel vapours in. Keep
fuels out of the reach of children.
Keep the doors and windows closed while
refuelling.
If you or others come into contact with fuel,
observe the following points:
R
Immediately rinse fuel off your skin with
soap and water.
R
If fuel comes into contact with your eyes,
rinse your eyes with clean water immedi-
ately. Consult a doctor without delay.
R
Consult a doctor without delay if you
swallow fuel. Do not induce vomiting.
R
Immediately change out of clothing that
has come into contact with fuel.
!
If you are using drums or canisters to
refuel the vehicle, you should filter the fuel
before adding it.
This will prevent malfunctions in the fuel
system due to contaminated fuel.
!
Only refuel using diesel fuel that conforms
to European standard EN 590 or an equiva-
lent specification. Diesel fuel that does not
conform to standard EN 590 can lead to
increased wear and damage to the engine
and the exhaust system.
!
Only use the specified fuel grades. Special
fuel additives could lead to the following
problems:
R
malfunctions
R
damage to the catalytic converter
R
engine damage
Do not use the following:
R
marine diesel fuel
R
heating oil
R
vegetable oil
R
petrol
R
paraffin
R
kerosene
Do not mix such fuels with diesel fuel and do
not use any additive. This can otherwise lead
to damage to the engine and the exhaust sys-
tem.
The use of appropriate fuel additives is your
responsibility. Mixing additives to the fuel can
limit or invalidate the warranty entitlements.
For this reason, only use fuel additives that
have been approved for Mercedes-Benz.
When the vehicle leaves the factory, the diesel
fuel in the vehicle corresponds with the sul-
phur content of the fuel available in the coun-
try of delivery.

Set the sulphur content of the fuel in the on-
Fuel grade
In accordance with European standard EN
16942, you can find the following compatibility
label for diesel fuel:
R
on the instruction label on the vehicle's fuel
tank next to the fuel filler cap
R
on the fuel pump or pump nozzle for your
vehicle, throughout Europe
Compatibility labels on the vehicle (example):
R
B7: for diesel fuel with a maximum of 7%
FAME fatty acid methyl ester (bio-diesel
fuel) by volume
R
B100: for diesel fuel with a maximum of
100% FAME fatty acid methyl ester (bio-die-
sel fuel) by volume
Before delivery, the fuel sulphur content is set
to <0.005% sulphur by weight (50 ppm).
Certain countries have diesel fuel with varying
sulphur content. Diesel fuel with low sulphur
content is sold in certain countries under the
name "Euro diesel".
You can obtain information regarding the cur-
rent country-specific sulphur content of the
fuel from the Mercedes-Benz Specifications for
Service Products in accordance with Sheet No.
136.2. You can obtain further information from
a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
Diesel fuels at low temperatures
At very low outside temperatures, paraffin sep-
aration may cause the flow properties of the
diesel fuel to be insufficient.
