Operating the continuous brake

Pull multi-function lever, continuous
brake (engine brake/ retarder) from
position

to position

When the continuous brake is operat-
ed, the

indicator lamp lights up in

the instrument panel.

If the

brake indicator lamp lights up

in the instrument panel when the continu-
ous brake is operated, the speed of the ve-
hicle is too high for a lower gear to be
selected:

Decelerate using the service brake.

When the lever is in position

, the

braking effect is at its least.

When the lever is in position

the

braking effect is at its greatest.

If the service brake is applied when the
continuous brake is active, the trans-
mission will shift down in accordance
with the driving situation.
