Vehicles with steered leading/trailing axle

Vehicles with steered leading/ trailing axles should
only be pushed backwards when the trailing axle is
raised and not touching the ground. Otherwise, you
may damage the vehicle frame.

Vehicles with electrohydraulic dual-circuit power
steering
The electrohydraulic dual-circuit power steering consists
of an electrical steering circuit and a hydraulic steering
circuit.
Note
The electric power steering is
switched on at a speed of 9 km/h
when towing with the tow bar.
The electric power steering is
switched off at speeds below
9 km/h.

possible. Otherwise you could
damage the steering.

Rules for towing
• Remove propeller shaft to avoid damaging
transmission, see chapter "Propeller shaft removal".
• ASR, ESP® and ABA must be switched off, see
chapter "Safety systems".
• There must be sufficient pressure in the compressed-
air system, see "Filling compressed-air system from
an external source".
• Disengage the activated front axle.
• Disengage the off-road gear.
• Disengage the differential locks.
• Wind deflectors, mirrors and bodies may protrude
above and to either side of the vehicle.
• Connect the trailer/semitrailer with an ABS cable (5-
pin or 7-pin).
• Make sure that the vehicle to be towed has all the
required lights operating.
• If you are towing the vehicle raised at the rear axle,
fold in and secure the wind deflectors.
