Driving assistance systems
Introduction of the New G-Class, Model Series 463
g
General
The new assistance systems of the G-Class include:
• DISTRONIC PLUS (SA)
• Front Parktronic (SA)
• Blind Spot Assist (SA)
DISTRONIC PLUS
The DISTRONIC PLUS driver assistance system auto-
matically regulates the vehicle speed and distance to
the vehicle in front as specified by the driver in the
speed range of v = 0 to 200 km/h and v = 200 to
0 km/h.
Starting off again after a standstill takes place auton-
omously within a time window of 0-2 seconds After
this, start-off must be confirmed.
Parktronic
The Parktronic system can help the driver with parallel
parking. Six new sensors in the front bumper and four
sensors in the rear bumper measure the distance to
the obstacle. If the driver approaches this obstacle,
he/she is warned by acoustic and visual signals.
Blind Spot Assist
The Blind Spot Assist system monitors the rear and
side areas of the vehicle using short range radar and
warns the driver if another vehicle is detected in the
blind spot during an intentional lane change (turn
signal set). A visual indicator in the outside mirrors
indicates that the system is active.
As of 30 km/h, the yellow visual indicator in the
outside mirror disappears if no system faults are
detected. As soon as a vehicle is detected in the
detection range of the radar sensor system, the driver
is warned by illumination of the red readiness and
warning indicator in the outside mirror on the side of
the vehicle where there is a vehicle in the blind spot. If
the driver tries to initiate a lane change despite illumi-
nation of the indicator, an acoustic warning is also
output and the warning indicator flashes.
