Introduction of the New G-Class, Model Series 463
General
Internally ventilated brake disks are used on the front
axle and solid brake disks are used on the rear axle.
They provide impressively short braking distances,
good response and high thermal durability.
In addition, new brakes are used in the G 63 AMG
which ensure safe braking to a standstill even from
high speeds. The 6-piston brake calipers of the front
axle and the 1-piston floating calipers of the rear axle
are painted red as standard. They are also optionally
available in silver. The brake disks are internally venti-
lated and perforated both at the front and rear.
With the model refinement, the G-Class has been
equipped with a new generation of ESP. Due to the
new ESP-Premium brake unit for the new diagonal
brake circuit split, the new master brake cylinder and
associated brake booster, a new pedal assembly
including pedal block has been installed.
This changes the gear ratio of the brake pedal. A new
brake light switch is also used.
The ADAPTIVE BRAKE system, installed for the first
time as standard in the G-Class, features the addi-
tional Hill Start Assist and HOLD functions.
