Diesel Fuels
Use only c o m m e rcia lly available
vehicular diesel fuels No. 2 or No. 1
(ASTM D 975 No. 2-D o r No. 1-D).
C hange e n g in e o il in c o m p lia n c e with
section “ Engine Oil Change and Oil
Filter S ervice” if diesel fuels are used
whose su lp h u r co n te n t exceeds 0.5 %
by w eight. M arine diesel fuel, heating
oil or the like m ust not be used.
At very low te m p e ra tu re s the flu id ity of
No. 2-D diesel fuel may becom e
insufficient due to paraffin separation.
To avoid m alfunctions, No. 2-D diesel
fuel of a lowered cloud point are
m arketed durin g the cold season.
If w inter diesel fuel is used, there will
hardly be any m alfunctions at outside
te m p e ra tu re s reaching as low as
+3° F (-16° C).
Varying with the te m perature, add a
certain q u a n tity of kerosene, if only

cold resistant w in te r diesel fuels are
available o r if te m p e ra tu re s d ro p
below +3° F (-16° C).
If regular gasoline does have to be
added, its p ro p o rtio n should not
exceed 30 %. Prem ium fuels are not
to be used.
Engine pow er may dro p acco rd in g to
the p ro p o rtio n of s u p p lem e n ta ry fuel.
For this reason, keep percentage of
fuel added to the m inim um

s u p p lem e n ta ry fuel (kerosene) must
not exceed 50 %.
The follo w in g table can be used as a
reference, if it becom es necessary to
add kerosene to No. 2-D diesel fuel.
The m ixing ratios shown refer to the
total m ixture based on No. 2-D

not to exceed the m ixture ratio,
