3. First start
If all connections have been carried out correctly, then after having the power supply connected to
the mains the indication LEDs
MAINS
,
OPERATION
(diodes 8 and 9 inside the cabinet on the circuit pack
– see the picture and table in the section 2.2) and
MAINS
(the element no. 11) should light up.
Additionally, one should hear the sound of the relay connecting the battery bank to the system.
Connecting the battery happens only when the battery bank voltage is higher than 21.6 V.
During the switching on one should perform two checks.
3.1. Checking ability to back up output voltage.
Use a breaker in the electrical installation before the power supply ZSP135-DR to cut off the mains
power. The power supply should switch to the battery mode, keeping voltage on its both outputs. Check
it by whatever probe, e.g. a voltmeter or electric bulb.
After about 5 sec. starting from disconnecting the mains, the LED
MAINS
diode will start blinking
and
the
FAULT
indication LED, on the door of the power supply, will be on.
The relay
MAINS FLT
should
switch into the inactive state (contacts connected as on the pictogram next to the terminal). The relay
BAT FLT
should remain activated. The state of a relay can be checked, e.g. by an ohmmeter connected
to appropriate contacts of the relays.
3.2. Checking the battery circuit
When the power supply operates from the mains, please, break the battery circuit by disconnecting
one of its wires. This state shall be detected during the first next test. It could last up to 10 minutes.
In this state, the indication
FAULT
on the door of the cabinet should be triggered and the indication
BAT
(the red LED) on the circuit pack of the power supply should be pulsating. The relay
BAT FLT
shall
switch to the inactive state (contacts connected as on the pictogram next to the terminal). The relay
MAINS
FLT
shall remain activated. The state of a relay could be checked, e.g. by an ohmmeter connected to
appropriate contacts of the relay.
Similarly, after removing the break in the battery circuit, the fault indication will be cancelled
automatically, but after the next correctly conducted test
– i.e. after the time of 10 min. as well,
under
the condition that the battery has not been charged in the bulk mode
.
4. Operation
4.1. Introduction
Output voltages and state indication thresholds are factory preset. After having set up the power
supplies require ongoing monitoring by the staff to react to fault indication which may occur during the
operation.
The battery pack is connected by the power supply at the time of the start of the mains only when
the voltage is higher than 21,6 V. If the battery is faulty (with the voltage below 10 V) its installation
won’t be in any way noticed by the power supply. For the intermediate voltages, the warning indication
is activated in the form of short flashes of LED
FAULT
diode.
In battery mode, when the mains out, after discharging the battery, the battery is disconnected by
the low voltage disconnect device (LVD), so there is no danger of battery destruction by their complete
discharging.
