Installations
Access the Installation Editor screen by clicking on the Installations icon in the SETUP main menu.
Use the Installation Editor to edit or copy existing Installations, or to create new ones. Icons at the top right of the
screen (left to right) are used to: delete, copy, add new, save Installations, help, and exit the current screen.

The Installation Editor is used to assign assets to specific installations , and to provide additional information—via
attributes—about the installation. Attributes can provide more information about the installation’s location, power
supply characteristics, environmental conditions, and more. The attributes you assign will depend on your needs and
preferences.
1. To the left of the Add Attribute button are two fields. Click on the arrow to the left of the first attribute field to
open a list of existing attributes. If the attribute you need already exists, select the attribute then enter the value in
the adjacent field. For example, if your organization uses location attributes such as Plant and Building, you can add
these attributes to you installation as shown in the example above.
2. If the attribute you need is not found in the list, type the name of the new attribute directly in the first attribute
field.
NOTE: Be careful when creating new attributes so that you do not create a duplicate or near-duplicate
attribute. Refer to “Naming Attributes” on page 61 for more information on the issue.
An asset is commonly a motor attached to a machine somewhere within the organization—that machine is commonly
the asset’s
installation . Defining exactly where that machine (and its related asset) can be found is a primary role of
attributes, but they can also be used to provide other installation details.
