SAWING
IMPORTANT:
• Always hold the saw with both hands. Hold the handles in a firm grip with both hands at a safe
distance from your body with your thumbs under the handle when working.
• The saw must have reached full speed before starting to saw.
• Use the bumper spike as a support and lever during the sawing by pressing it against the tree.
.
FELLING TREES
WARNING:
• Felling trees is dangerous and requires professional experience. A beginner or inexperienced user
should never attempt to fell a tree on his/her own. Only fell trees in cooperation with an
experienced professional.
• Check that there are no other persons in the direction of fall or immediate vicinity of the tree.
This is very important. Failure to do this can result in serious or fatal personal injury.
• Always stand above the trunk when working on slopes. The trunk can roll away.
NOTE:
Only fell trees with a diameter less than the length of the bar. If the saw jams, release it with a
wedge.
Direction of fall
NOTE:
• If two persons are working with the sawing and felling the distance between the person felling
and the person sawing must be at least twice the height of the tree being felled.
• Make sure when felling trees that no other persons are exposed to danger and that there are no
power lines or other objects that can be damaged. Contact the power line owner immediately if
a felled tree comes into contact with power or telephone lines.
• When sawing on sloping ground stand above the felled tree, because it could start to roll down
the slope.
– First decide the direction of fall in relation to the thickness and angle of the tree, the
direction and force of the wind, positioning of large branches, and suitable space for
clearance work after felling etc.
– Remove any dirt, stones, loose bark, nails, clamps or lines from the tree.
• Plan a retreat route, and if necessary clear it, before starting the felling. The retreat route should
go back at an angle from the direction of fall.
