Supplementary safety instruction for grinding
Special warnings for grinding
• Use only disc types that are recommended for your power tool and the specific
guard designed for the selected disc. Discs for which the power tool was not
designed cannot be adequately guarded and are unsafe.
• The abrasive surface of the middle wheels must be mounted below the level of
the protective edge. The abrasive surface of the middle wheels must be
mounted below the level of the protective edge. An incorrectly mounted disc
that protrudes over the edge of the guard, cannot be properly protected.
• The guard must be securely attached to the power tool and positioned for
maximum safety, so the least amount of disc is exposed towards the user. The
guard helps to protect the user from broken disc fragments, accidental contact
with disc and sparks that could ignite clothing.
• Wheels must be used only for recommended applications. Example: For
example: do not grind with the side of cut-off wheel. Abrasive cut-off wheels
are intended for peripheral grinding, side forces applied to these wheels may
cause them to shatter.
• Always use undamaged wheel flanges that are of correct size and shape for
your selected grinding disc. Proper wheel flanges support the disc thus
reducing the possibility of disc breakage. Flanges for cut-off wheels may be
different from grinding disc flanges.
• Do not use worn down discs from larger power tools. Discs intended for larger
power tool are not suitable for the higher speed of a smaller power tool and
may fail.
Remaining risks
Even if the power tool is used as prescribed, there are some risks. The construction
and design of the power tool can result in the following risks:
1.
Damage to the lungs, if a suitable dust protection mask is not worn.
2.
Hearing impairment if no suitable ear protection is used.
3.
Health problems due to vibrations in the hands and arms, if the machine is
used continuously for a long time or is not handled and maintained correctly.
