Mediroyal TFCC Wrist Orthosis
This wrist orthosis has been designed to immobilize and control pronation and supination of the wrist after
injuries to the TFCC ligaments. In order to achieve effective rotation stability, the orthosis length must be at
least 2/3 of the length of the forearm. Therefore, the model is available in three individual lengths:
· TFC101 Mediroyal TFCC Wrist Orthosis, 25 cm length in sizes XS-XL, Left & Right
· TFC102 Mediroyal TFCC Wrist Orthosis, 28 cm length in sizes XS-XL, Left & Right
· TFC103 Mediroyal TFCC Wrist Orthosis, 31 cm length in sizes XS-XL, Left & Right
General information · Read the instruction carefully. The product should be fitted by a medical professional
like an occupational therapist, physical therapist, orthopedic technician or a medical doctor. Patients with
diabetes, circulatory problems or sensitive skin should consult their doctor before use. If the patient is allergic,
check the material content on the textile label on the product.
Indications · This wrist orthosis has been developed to support the wrist after operation of the TFCC ligaments
but also for conservative treatment. The orthosis provides stability and rotation control. It can also be used
after early cast removal of general wrist fractures to immobilize the wrist joint.
Contraindications · If you are suffering from reduced sensation or circulatory problems you should consult
your medical practitioner before use. If you experience impaired sensation, numbness or circulatory problems
in the wrist or fingers, release the compression and contact your medical practitioner.
Application and adjustment · Note that the wrist should be held in neutral position with the elbow in approx.
90 degrees during application. See the instruction pictures for more information.
– Open the Boa
®
system by lifting the dial until you hear a click. Then open the three straps. Observe
the different numbers on the straps and the attachment points on the upper side of the orthosis.
– Pull up the orthosis over the wrist without changing the neutral position of the wrist and forearm.
– Apply the middle strap, marked with number 1 first. Make sure that it’s attached over the matching number
1 on the upper part.
– Continue with the lower strap marked with number 2 and attach it over the matching number 2 on the
upper part.
– The last strap, number 3 should be attached as close to the edge of the upper part of the orthosis.
Engage the Boa
®
system by pressing on the dial. Then turn the dial carefully until the stability feels
comfortable. Test the stability for a few minutes and adjust the tension if needed. If you get loss of sensation

or increased pain, lift the dial and pull the plastic grip to release compression. Start from the beginning and
add less compression. The rotation stability is based on a combination of length of the orthosis and the
compression from the Boa
®
system. It’s important to find the optimal individual balance for you without too high
compression.
Time usage · After the surgery the orthosis should be worn both night- and daytime or according to the
specific instructions from your medical practitioner. It’s also your medical practitioner that decides for how
long you will wear the orthosis. The orthosis should be removed on a daily basis for ventilation of the skin and
hygiene according to the instructions provided by your medical practitioner. This is important to prevent skin- or
pressure problems.
Additional rotation control · If further rotation control is needed, the TFCC Elbow Extension Unit (TFC105)
can be used to control the elbow joint and increase the lever. See the separate instruction for more information.
Biofeedback-Proprioception · The inside of the orthosis has friction surfaces that actively help to signal
movement and rotation. These surfaces can in rare cases cause skin irritation. If this would occur we
recommend to use an arm sleeve to protect the skin.
Arm Sleeves · The arm sleeves can both protect the skin as well as provide compression over the wrist to
prevent and treat swelling of the wrist that could occur during long term immobilization. The arm sleeve has
compression class 2 over the wrist. The sleeve has a seam that should be positioned on the outside in order to
prevent pressure.
The arm sleeves are available in two lengths:
· TFC107 Short Arm Sleeve S-M-L (that fits TFC101)
· TFC108 Long Arm Sleeve S-M-L (that fits TFC102 and TFC103).
Material content · The material content of the product is described on the white care label on the product.
Caring instructions and precautions · We recommend that the orthosis should be washed once a week.
Follow the washing instructions on the care label of the product. Remove the metal splint, close the straps and
lock the Boa
®
dial by pressing it down. Use a laundry bag, liquid detergent and wash in a washing machine but
do not tumble.
Patients with sensitive skin, diabetes or poor circulation should be observed for pressure marks or swelling.
Patients with allergies should observe the material content. Should discomfort, skin irritation, increased pain or
reduced sensation occur during your treatment, immediately contact your medical practitioner.

Mediroyal TFCC Handledsortos
Denna handledsortos är framtagen för att immobilisera handleden och kontrollera pronation och supination vid
TFCC. För att nå effektiv rotationsstabilitet krävs att ortosens längd går minst 2/3-delar av underarmens längd.
Därför finns modellen i tre individuella längder:
· TFC101 Mediroyal TFCC Handledsortos, 25 cm längd i storlekarna XS-XL, Höger och Vänster

Generell information · Läs instruktionen noggrant. Produkten skall provas ut av medicinsk utbildad
personal som arbetsterapeut, sjukgymnast, ortopedingenjör/tekniker eller läkare. Patienter med diabetes,
cirkulationsproblem eller känslig hud skall konsultera sin läkare innan användning. Om patienten har
kontaktallergier, kontrollera materialinnehållet på produktens vita etikett.
Indikationer · Denna handledsortos har tagits fram för att stödja handleden efter operation av TFCC men
också vid konservativ behandling. Ortosen ger en stabilitet och rotationskontroll. Den kan även användas efter
tidig avgipsning av generella handledsfrakturer för att immobilisera handleden.
Kontraindikationer · Om du lider av känselnedsättning eller cirkulationsproblem skall du rådgöra med
din behandlare innan användning. Upplever du problem med känselbortfall, stickningar i fingrar eller
cirkulationsproblem skall du omedelbart släppa på kompressionen och kontakta din behandlare.
Applicering och justering · Viktigt! Vid applicering skall handleden hållas i neutralposition med armbågen i ca
90 grader, enligt bilderna.
– Börja med att öppna Boa
®
knappen genom att lyfta upp den så det hörs ett klick. Öppna sedan de tre
banden. Observera numreringen på de olika banden och dess fästpunkter på ortosens ovansida.
– Dra ortosen över handen utan att ändra på läget av underarm och handled.
– Applicera först mittenbandet som är markerat med siffran 1 och fäst det mot 1:an på ovansidan.
– Därefter applicerar du band 2 mot siffran 2 på ovansidan på handryggen.
– Avsluta med band 3 närmast armbågen och fäst det så nära kanten som möjligt på ortosen.
Tryck sedan in Boa
®
-knappen på mittenbandet. Dra åt försiktigt, tills det känns stabilt och komfortabelt. Du
kan efterjustera efter en stund om du vill ha mer stöd. Om du får känselbortfall eller känner smärta lyfter du på
Boa
®
-knappen och drar i plastbygeln för att lätta på kompressionen. Därefter kan du efterjustera med mindre
kraft. Ortosens rotationsstabilitet bygger på en kombination av längd och kompression från Boa
®
-systemet.
Därför är det viktigt att hitta optimal balans utan att kompressionen blir för hög.

Användning · Efter operation skall ortosen användas dygnet runt eller enligt instruktioner från din behandlare.
Din behandlare bestämmer också hur lång tid behandlingen behövs. Ortosen skall också tas av för luftning och
hygien enligt det schema som din behandlare tar fram. Detta är viktigt för att förebygga hud- eller tryckproblem.
Ytterligare rotationskontroll · Vid behov av ytterligare rotationskontroll kan en armbågsdel (TFC105)
användas för att kontrollera armbågsleden och förlänga ortosens hävarm. Se separat instruktion för mer
information.
Biofeedback-Proprioception · Ortosens insida har friktionselement som hjälper till att aktivt signalera
rörelse och rotation. Friktionsytorna kan i sällsynta fall orsaka en lätt hudrodnad. Skulle detta uppkomma
rekommenderar vi att använda en handstrumpa som skydd för huden. Denna handstrumpa finns i två längder;
Kort (som passar TFC101) och Lång (som passar TFC102 och TFC103).
Handstrumpor · Som beskrivits ovan finns en handstrumpa som både kan skydda huden men också
behandla svullnad över handleden som ofta uppkommer efter operation/immobilisering. Handstrumpan håller
kompressionsklass 2 över handleden och har en söm som skall placeras på utsidan för att undvika tryck.
Handstrumporna finns i två längder:
· TFC107 Kort Handstrumpa S-M-L (passar TFC101)
· TFC108 Lång Handstrumpa S-M-L (passar TFC102 och TFC103).
Materialinnehåll · Materialinnehåll finns specificerad på den vita etiketten på produkten.
Skötsel och försiktighetsåtgärder · Vi rekommenderar att ortosen tvättas en gång i veckan. Följ
tvättinstruktionerna på den vita etiketten på produkten. Ta ut metallskenan, stäng kardborrarna innan och se
till att Boa
®
-systemet är i låst läge genom att trycka ner knappen. Använd en tvättpåse och tvätta i maskin med
flytande tvättmedel. Produkten skall inte tumlas.
Patienter med känslig hud, diabetes eller dålig cirkulation skall alltid kontrolleras för eventuella tryckproblem
eller om svullnad uppkommer vid behandlingen. Patienter med allergier skall vara observanta på
materialinnehållet. Skulle obehag, hudrodnad, smärta som förvärras eller känselbortfall uppstå under
behandlingen skall du omedelbart kontakta din behandlare.
