Dual Mono
These settings are to be used when only the two front loudspeakers are to
be used.
S T E R E O
:
Stereo sound is produced (standard setting).
L - M O N O
:
The link mono signal is transferred to the left and right loud-
speakers (e.g. to select the language for the second channel
sound).
R - M O N O
:
The right mono signal is transferred to the left and right
loudspeakers (e.g. to select the language for the second
channel sound).
M I X - M O N O
:The two channels are mixed together. This is only possible
for DVDs in 2.0 channel mode.
You can change the current selection (except
M I X - M O N O
) using the
CHANNEL
button.
COMPRESSION
The Dolby Digital sound format supports a dynamic setting that you can
use to set the volume difference for quiet and loud passages with a scale
of
O F F
to
F U L L
in nine steps.
O F F
:
The sound is reproduced without changes, i.e. loud pas-
sages and bass sounds are loud and quiet passages are quiet
(cinema sound). This setting is only appropriate if nobody
will be disturbed.
FULL:
The volume difference is minimized, i.e. loud passages are
quieter and quiet passages are louder. This setting is appro-
priate, for example, at night.

To change the setting use

PRO LOGIC
If you use sound media in Dolby Pro Logic II format you can make the set-
tings here.

:
The decoding is switched off; only stereo sound is output.

:
The decoding is switched on; if appropriate loudspeakers
are connected surround sound is produced.

:
With this setting the unit will automatically detect a Dolby
Pro Logic medium.
