MDS NETio Installation & Operation Guide
MDS 05-4457A01, Rev. A
3. NETio Backplane—Wired communication between a Base Module
and Expansion Modules using the NETio Backplane Connectors.
When any one or more of these communication modes fails for a con-
figurable period of time, an output will enter Failsafe mode and generate
the Failsafe value selected by the user. The user can accept the factory
settings or modify them, but Failsafe behavior is always activated for an
output signal.
3.4.1 Configuring Failsafe Settings
Figure 3-10
shows the Analog Output and Discrete Output menus. Each
menu contains a field for failsafe mode.

For a Discrete Output the Failsafe Mode options are:
ON
—Output is set to logic 1.
OFF
—Output is set to logic 0.
HOLD
—Output last state prior to communication failure.
For an Analog Output the Failsafe Mode options are:
HIGH
—Ramp output to the highest value in the range.
LOW
—Ramp output to the lowest value in the range.
