ROTOR FLIGHT CONTROLS
INSPECTION / TEST / RIGGING PROCEDURE
1. Rotor Flight Control System
A. Rotor Flight Control System Inspection
(Area 1)
Special Tools
(Ref. CSP − SPM)

T2001 Hydraulic Mule
T2002 Ground Power Unit
(1). Examine cyclic and collective boots for
cracks, wear, and correct installation.
(a). No defects or incorrect installation
permitted.
(2). Examine cyclic and collective sticks for
damage and corrosion.
(a). No damage or corrosion permitted.
(3).
Copilot (Quick Release) Cyclic Stick −
Remove and examine copilot cyclic stick
expandable diameter bolts for cracks
and corrosion.
(a). No cracks or corrosion is permitted.
(b). Install expandable diameter bolts.
(c). Adjust diameter of bolt so force
necessary to engage cam handle is 11
to 14 lb (5 to 6.35 kg) .
(d). Apply force at the center of the
spring clip.
(4).
Copilot (Quick Release) Collective
Stick (902 CONFIG) −
Remove and
examine quick release pin for cracks
and corrosion.
(a). No cracks or corrosion is permitted.
Moving Flight Controls
Do not move rotor flight controls through
their full range unless hydraulic power is
supplied to the helicopter.
Cyclic stick must be centered before you
move collective control through its full
range of travel.
Collective control must be set at approxi­
mately 80% before you move cyclic control
through its full range of travel.
(5). Apply 1000 psig (6894.8 kPa) hydrau­
lic pressure to Hydraulic System
Number 1 with hydraulic mule (T2001)
(ref. Section 29-00-00).
(6). Apply external electrical power with
ground power unit (T2002) (ref.
CSP-900RMM-3).
(7). Make sure main rotor flight controls
operate smoothly, move easily, and
move freely.
(a). No defects are permitted.
(b). If the main rotor flight controls do
not move freely and you think the
the longitudinal and/or lateral
gradient springs are the possible
cause, remove the gradient springs
and do this test:
1). If the torque necessary to turn one
of the two rod end balls around the
axis of the bolt hole is more than
1.0 in-oz (7.06 mNm) , replace the
gradient spring.
(8). Make sure the longitudinal and lateral
trim actuators function correctly.
(a). Incorrect function is not permitted.
(9). Examine the main rotor flight controls
for too much play.
(a). Too much play is not permitted.
