rivets at bulkhead. Attach support
bracket to fuselage skin with rivets.
(5). Position mounting bracket on support
bracket and determine rivet hole
locations for upper and lower tabs on
mounting bracket. Drill two 0.204 in.
(5.1816 mm) screw attach holes in
mounting bracket.
(6). Remove two existing rivets from Sta.
50.50, just below right longeron,
corresponding to lower left tab on
mounting bracket; then drill two 0.098
in. (2.4892 mm) rivet attach holes in
lower left tab to match rivet pattern.
(7). Using screws and washers, attach
mounting bracket to nutplates on
support bracket.
(8). Using rivets, attach lower left tab of
mounting bracket to Sta. 50.50, just
below right longeron.
(9). Mark and drill two 0.169 in. (4.2926
mm) screw attach holes through upper
tab of mounting bracket and fuselage
skin at Sta. 43.00, just above WL
22.00.
(10). Using screws, washers, and nuts,
attach upper tab of mounting bracket
to fuselage skin.
(11). Verify loudspeakers are properly
installed on mounting bracket and that
horn nut is secured per Loudspeaker
instructions.
NOTE:
Electrical wiring at loudspeakers is not
installed at this time.
G. Control Unit and Microphone
The following defines a procedure for installing
the control unit and microphone on the right
side of the instrument panel.
(1). Determine four hole locations on right
side of instrument panel structure for
nutplates. Using drill motor and
appropriate drill bit, remove applicable
existing rivets in structure and enlarge
to 0.177 in. (4.4958 mm) holes. Also,
drill 0.098 in. (2.4892 mm) rivet attach
holes at each nutplate hole. Attach
nutplates to structure with rivets (Ref.
Figure 901, view B-B).
(2). Position hood and side fairing on
instrument panel structure, and
determine access holes to nutplates on
structure; then remove hood and
fairing. Drill two 0.177 in. (4.4958 mm)
holes in fairing to match nutplates.
(3). Using upper forward access hole in side
fairing as reference, determine location
of cutout for electrical wiring. Using
1.25 in. (3.175 cm) chassis punch or
equivalent, cut hole in fairing; then
install grommet in hole.
(4). Position control unit support over
nutplate access holes on side fairing.
Mark and drill four 0.177 in. (4.4958
mm) screw attach holes in support for
eventual attachment to nutplates.
(5). Install side fairing and hood on instru
ment panel structure.
(6). Using screw and washers, attach
support to nutplates on instrument
panel (Ref. Figure 201).
(7). Verify that microphone holder is
attached to support with screws,
washers, and nuts; then attach control
unit in support with screws supplied
with unit. Stow microphone in holder
on control unit.
NOTE:
Electrical wiring at control unit is not
installed at this time.
