In D, the transaxle autom atically shifts to
overdrive, w hich im proves fuel econom y
and reduces noise.
To allow engine b raking w hen going
dow n a steep grade, m ake sure the
overdrive button is in the o ff position.
A nd for a sm oother rid e w ith less shifting,
d o n ’t use it when:
• G oing up a steep grade.
• D riving in stop-and-go traffic.
• Pulling heavy loads.
To t u r n o ff th e o v e rd riv e , p u s h th e
b u tto n .
The transaxle w ill then shift through a
three-gear sequence in D.
Shift patterns w ithout overdrive:

If the overdrive-off indicator light
flashes, the transaxle has an electrical
problem . C ontinuing to drive y our

possible.
