SRS Air Bags
▼ Constant Monitoring
T he follow ing com ponents o f the air bag
system s are m onitored by a diagnostic
system :
• SA S unit
• A ir bag m odules
• Side air bag crash sensor
• R elated w iring
A diagnostic m odule continuously
m onitors the sy ste m s’ readiness. This
begins w hen the ignition sw itch is turned
to the O N position and continues w hile
the vehicle is being driven.
▼ Air Bag Systems Warning Light
If the air bag system is O K , the w arning
light com es on w hen the ignition sw itch is
turned to the O N position or after the
engine is cranked. A fter about 6 seconds it
goes out.
A system m alfunction is indicated w hen
the w arning light constantly flashes, stays
on or d o esn ’t com e on at all. If any o f
these occur, consult an A uthorized M azda
D ealer as soon as possible. T he system
m ay not w ork in an accident.

Maintenance
T he air bag system s are m aintenance-free.
B ut if any o f the follow ing occurs, take
y o u r vehicle to an A uthorized M azda
D ealer as soon as possible:
• T he air bag system w arning light
flashes.
• T he air bag system w arning lig h t stays
on.
• T he air bag system w arning lig h t stays
o ff w hen the ignition sw itch is turned
to the O N position.
• T he air bags inflate.
