Fluid Level
T h e autom atic transaxle fluid level should
be inspected regularly. M easure it as
described below.
T h e volum e o f fluid changes w ith the
tem perature. Fluid m ust b e checked at idle
w ithout driving at n orm al operating
tem perature.

CAUTION
L ow fluid level causes transaxle
slippage. O verfilling can cause
foam ing, loss o f fluid, and transaxle
m alfunction.
U se specified fluid (page 1 0-4). A
nonspecified fluid could result in
transaxle m alfunction and failure.
1. Park on a level surface and set the
parking brake firmly.
2. Idle the engine a bout tw o m inutes.
P u sh dow n on the brake pedal.
3. M ove the shift lever through all ranges
and set it at P.

4. W ith the engine still idling, pull out the
dipstick, w ipe it clean, and p ut it back.
5. P ull it o ut again.
T h e proper fluid level is m arked on the
dipstick as follow s.

W hen the e ngine has been running and the
fluid is a t n orm al operating tem perature,
about 65°C (150°F) to 77°C (170°F), the
level m ust be w ithin the crosshatched area
on the dipstick.
