5. F ill the rad iato r (to the top o f the filler
neck) and then the coolant reservoir (to
F) w ith as m uch ethylene-glycol-based
coolant and w ater as necessary to
provide protection from freezing and
corrosion.
In extrem ely cold clim ates, add the
am ount recom m ended by the coolant
m anufacturer.
6. R einstall the cooling system cap.
7. R un the engine at idle for about 10
m inutes.
8. T hen do this:
• R un the engine at 2,500 rpm for
about 5 m inutes.
• Increase the engine speed to 3,000
rpm for about 5 seconds and then
release the accelerator.
• D o this 4 or 5 tim es.
• M ake sure the engine tem perature
gauge does not reach the H O T zone.
A fter turning off the engine, inspect the
drain plug and the w ater hoses for leaks.
9. A fter the engine has cooled, rem ove
the cooling system cap and inspect the
coolant level. If it ’s low, repeat steps 5
to 8.
B ecause this procedure requires technical
expertise, w e recom m end that it be done
by an A uthorized M azda D ealer.
Brake/Clutch Fluid
▼ Inspecting Brake/Clutch Fluid
Level
The brakes and clutch draw fluid from the
sam e reservoir.
Inspect the fluid level in the reservoir
regularly. It should be kept at M A X .
The level norm ally drops w ith
accum ulated distance, a condition
associated w ith w ear o f brake and clutch
linings. If it is excessively low, have the
brake/clutch system inspected by an
A uthorized M azda D ealer.
N O TE
M ixing green coolant w ith orange
coolant could decrease the service life
expectancy o f the coolant. U se only
genuine M azda orange colored or
equivalent coolant.
