Navigation – Front Cabin
Software update
Software update
The system can be updated with a new
Navigation DVD.
The new DVD selectively incorporates
updated maps as well as new device soft-
ware.
Start update
Switch COMAND ON ( page 34).
On the navigation computer, press
key


2 DVD slot
The computer ejects a DVD already
inserted.
Remove the DVD from slot 2 .
Insert the new DVD into slot 2
with the label facing up.
The DVD is pulled-in by the com-
puter.
COMAND issues a prompt for con-
firmation of the update.

After a brief delay, the system is
switched OFF, and then automatically
switched ON again.
Initially, the display shows the opera-
tion mode selected prior to the up-
date. Shortly thereafter a progress
display appears.
After a certain period of time the
progress display reaches 100%, the
system is switched OFF, and then au-
tomatically switched ON again.

The update is completed. The navigation
system is ready for use.
If after switching ON the display

remains for a longer period
of time:
The system also updates the GPS soft-
ware, which takes approx. 6 minutes.
During this period of time, the naviga-
tion system cannot be operated.
Wait until the display goes off-screen.
The update is completed. The naviga-
tion system is ready for use.

Updating can take several minutes.
During updating, the operation of
COMAND is restricted. Switching OFF
is not permitted.
After updating, the vehicle should be
parked outside with switched-ON ig-
nition for approx. 10 minutes.

The navigation computer is located
on the left side in the vehicle’s trunk.
