If the colour of the seal in the seal housing of the breaker being

dismantled is dark blue the entire seal housing assembly should
be exchanged for the most recent assembly as detailed (24). The
colour of the seal in the new seal housing is lime green. It is
strongly recommended that if a seal needs replacing the entire
nose seal assembly should be replaced, as there will be significant
wear to all components. When replacing a nose seal assembly
always replace the

O

ring(19) in the nose of the cylinder.

8.7 Nose Seal Assembly

Refer to Section 10.5

PAV20/20.06Nose

Seal Assembly

See section 10.4 for information on removal of the nose assembly
from the cylinder.
To remove the latch (29), first drive out the inner roll pin

33

with a

suitable diameter drift and then the outer roll pin (32). When
removing the drift used to drive out the outer roll pin be careful to
restrain the latch and plunger (28) that may fly out due to the
compression force in the latch spring.
The hexagon bush (31) is an extremely tight fit and its removal and
replacement may be beyond the scope of most workshop facilities.
Service exchange units are available. If replacing the bush, ensure the
orientation is correct so that when edge steel, for example a clay
spade, is fitted the steel is in the right position.

Reassembly is generally the reverse of dismantling procedures.
Where there are specific points to be aware of these are noted in the
following sections. Attention must also be paid to the procedures
noted on section 7, Servicing and Maintenance.

9.1 Nose Seal Assembly

Refer to Section 10.5

PAV20/20.06

Nose Seal Assembly

1.When refitting a latch, check its operation with steel located in the

nose, after fitting the outer roll pin. If the function is correct fit the
inner roll pin with its split on the opposite side to that of the outer
pin and check its function again.

2.See section 10.1 for instructions regarding fitting the nose assembly

to the cylinder.

9.2 Cylinder Assembly (refer to sections 10.4, PAV20/20.03 Cylinder

Assembly)

1

Discard all original

O

rings and seals and replace with new.

2

Thoroughly wash all metal parts in an approved solvent cleaner.

3

Thoroughly dry all parts and place them on a clean surface. If the

parts are not to be used immediately they should be covered.
