Engine Cooling System:  1F-5

Cooling System Refilling

WARNING

!

 

To avoid getting burned, do not remove 
radiator cap while engine and radiator are 
still hot. Scalding fluid and steam can gush 
out under pressure if cap is taken off too 
soon.

 

1) Fill reservoir (1) with coolant up to “FULL” level mark 

(2).

2) Install reservoir cap (3) on reservoir (1).

3) Fill radiator with coolant up to bottom of radiator filler 

neck (1) and install radiator cap.

Coolant specification
Freezing temperature: –15 °C (5 °F)
Antifreeze / anti-corrosion coolant 
concentration: 30%

Coolant capacity
Petrol model:
• Engine, radiator and heater: 3.7 liters (7.82/

6.51 US/Imp pt.)

• Reservoir: 0.6 liters (1.27/1.06 US/Imp pt.)
• Total: 4.3 liters (9.09/7.57 US/Imp pt.)
Bi-Fuel LPG model:
• Engine, radiator, heater and LPG fuel pressure 

regulator: 3.8 liters (8.03/6.69 US/Imp pt.)

• Reservoir: 0.6 liters (1.27/1.06 US/Imp pt.)
• Total: 4.4 liters (9.30/7.74 US/Imp pt.)

4) Run engine at idle speed until radiator fan motor is 

operated.

5) Stop engine and wait until engine comes cooled 

down to avoid getting burned.

6) Add coolant to radiator up to bottom of radiator filler 

neck, and install radiator cap.

7) Repeat Step 4) through 6) several times.
8) Confirm that coolant level in reservoir is at “FULL” 

level mark. If coolant is insufficient, add coolant.

9) Check for coolant leaks.

Radiator Cooling Fan Operation

1) Connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC (1) with ignition 

switch OFF.

Special tool
(A):  SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI-SDT) 

2) Turn ignition switch to ON position and clear DTC.

• Petrol model: Refer “DTC Clearance: Petrol 

Model” in Section 1A in related manual mentioned 
in the Foreword of this manual.

• Bi-Fuel LPG model: 

)

3) Select the “Radiator Fan” function in “Active Test”. 
4) Check radiator cooling fan operation at on mode.

If radiator cooling fan does not operate, check 
cooling fan control system referring to “Radiator 
Cooling Fan Control System Check”: .
