Crane operation in the vicinity of supply lines
Crane operation in the proximity of supply lines (e.g. oil, gas, chemicals) is
dangerous and requires special safety precautions!
Always observe the regulations in the country in which you are working when
working in the vicinity of supply lines.
If the supply line contains substances that are harmful to health or the environ-
ment, you must determine suitable safety precautions with the responsible supply
company. Also define the necessary safety precautions for your helpers.
You yourself and the relevant public utility company are responsible for taking the
necessary safety precautions.
There are frequently supply lines in chemical plants. Find out whether special
articles of protective clothing are required on the truck crane for use on the
company premises, e.g. an air intake inhibitor.
Always maintain a sufficiently safe distance. Always assume that the line is under
pressure, even if it is disconnected.
Make sure to have the danger area monitored by one or more banksmen with
whom you have visual or radio contact. Concentrate on the signals and signs.
The banksmen are to be deployed at suitable locations so that any approach of
the truck crane or load to the supply line can be seen and reported.
You can use the working range limiter as an additional monitoring option, if your
truck crane is equipped with one.
