Remove both cotter pins.

Release the valve springs.

Remove the cap and the valve spring.
Checking the overhead camshaft

Check the camshaft bearings for signs
of abnormal wear.

Minimum diameter allowed - Bearing A
19.95 mm (0.7854 in)
Inlet cam height
31.488 mm (1.23968 in)
Exhaust cam height
30.864 mm (1.21511 in)

Check that the holes used for timing and their shoulders are not worn.

If values measured are not within the specified limits or there are signs of wear, replace the
defective components with new ones.
