Printhead Replacement
Tools Needed:
Torx T10 Screwdriver
The Printhead kit you will receive should allow for a quick and easy installation of the
replacement Printhead Assembly. Overall, the procedure should take no more than ten
minutes.
Note:
The replacement Printhead Assembly will be calibrated by the factory and
require no further mechanical adjustments after installation.
Steps Procedure
1. Make sure the EC1000 is turned off with the power cable disconnected from the outlet
and that you are wearing a grounding strap.
2. Before removing the Old Printhead Assembly, follow this procedure:
a. Print a test card with the current Printhead by selecting
Menu> Printer>
Menu
from the LCD display, then selecting [
Print Test Image
] then select the
ribbon type that is in your machine. (
Note:
This will produce a card to
calibrate the new Printhead.)
b. Record the R value from the white label attached to the new Printhead.
(
Note:
This label can be found beneath the Printhead mounting bracket
located in the mid-section of the Printhead Assembly.) Locate the value
labeled R=XXXX, the average resistance value of the Printhead. Example: R=
3400 Write the R value down for reference.
3. To remove the Original Printhead Assembly, follow these steps:
a. Unhook the blue-colored Printhead latch levers and raise the Printhead Arm
Assembly.
b. Gently disconnect the Printhead Harness Cable from the mid-section of the
Printhead Assembly.
c. Loosen the blue thumbscrew above the Printhead until the Printhead
assembly drops down slightly.
d. Lift the Printhead assembly off of the mounting posts to remove.
Note:
When removing the Printhead handle the Printhead by the bracket frame only, if
improperly handled the calibration of the Printhead can be compromise. Also do not pull on
the Printhead cable wires. Instead use a small flat head screwdriver to carefully pry each end
of the connector from the Printhead socket.
4. To install the New Printhead Assembly, follow these steps:
a. Reverse steps 3 through 8 to install the new Printhead Assembly (Note: The
Printhead must be held in a raised position while you are tightening the blue
thumb screw.)
b. When completed, apply power to the EC1000 and allow the Printer to follow
its normal power-up cycle.
c. Select
Menu> Printer> Menu
from the LCD display.
