5.13.1 SLOW FLIGHT AND FLIGHT BEHIND THE POWER CURVE
1. Purpose .........................................................reduce speed until reaching flight behind the
power curve, Vo < Vx
2. Preparation ....................................................constant heading
head-wind
level flight 400 ft - Vy
3. Decrease speed ............................................decrease power
maintain attitude
reach Vo
increase power to maintain altitude
4. Recovery........................................................change attitude to increase airspeed
reduce power upon reaching Vy
5.13.2 VERTICAL DESCENT
1. Purpose .........................................................descend vertically at zero forward speed
2. Preparation ....................................................head-wind
safe height
3.Descent...........................................................decrease power
pull the nose up gently
reduce forward speed
keep aligned with a reference on the horizon
do not increase the nose-up attitude
reach zero airspeed
