Coolants
Coolants include anti-freeze and mixtures of anti-freeze and
water.
Used coolants belong in hazardous waste.
z Dispose of these operating materials properly as
hazardous waste.
z Observe the regulations of the local authorities.
Refrigerants
Refrigerants are contained in the air conditioner, which needs
to be changed regularly.
Refrigerants may under no circumstances escape into the
atmosphere! Special requirements are therefore valid
concerning handling and disposal.
z Special recycling stations are employed for servicing the
air conditioners that suck off the refrigerant, clean it and
refill it into the air conditioner.
z
This service may be provided by specialist companies only
with the necessary technical equipment and the
corresponding technical certification.
z The disposal of refrigerants is the exception, because
refrigerants normally are cleaned by the recycling station
and are refilled then.
z
Basically, the refrigerant needs to be disposed of as
hazardous waste. Observe the regulations of the
responsible local and the national authorities.
Vehicle batteries
Vehicle batteries contain pollutants such as lead and battery
acid.
z Battery manufacturers and dealers are obligated to take
back old batteries and to recycle or dispose of them.
z You can also drop off the old batteries at a collection point
for old batteries.
z Observe the regulations of the responsible local and the
national authorities.
