Tensioning Timed Double-Knife Drive Belts
The tension of the timed knife drive belts must be set correctly in order for the cutterbar
’
s knife sections to stroke
properly.
IMPORTANT:
To ensure the service life of the belt and the knife drives,
NEVER
overtighten a drive belt.
IMPORTANT:
Do
NOT
use the adjuster bolt at the drive pulley to adjust the tension on the timing belt of a timed knife drive.
1.
Shut down the windrower, and remove the key from the ignition.
2.
Open the left endshield. For instructions, refer to

Check the tension on the knife drive belt. A properly
tensioned drive belt should deflect 20 mm (3/4 in.) when
89 N (20 lbf) of force is applied at the midspan of the belt.
4.
Loosen two nuts (A).

The tension on the knife drive belt can be adjusted by
moving belt guide (A) up or down. Thread adjuster nut (C)
down adjuster bolt (B) to increase the tension, or up to
decrease the tension.
