J: Clear the Compose Buffer on ACK
Expanded Function J
is a message that causes the DOS terminal to clear the compose buffer
after the network device receives and acknowledges a message.
What Happens
Expanded Function J sets the LDS Plus DOS terminal parameter AltAckMode to yes. When
Expanded Function J is sent to a DOS terminal, any message the DOS terminal transmits and the
network device acknowledges leaves the compose buffer in a cleared-to-header state.
Auto Refresh Mode
Expanded Function J allows the terminal to clear a form of unprotected characters only, which
enables the operator to reuse it. This state of the DOS terminal is known as the auto refresh mode.
The AltAckMode parameter remains set to yes until the host sends Expanded Function I to toggle
the AltAckMode parameter to no or the operator powers the DOS terminal off.
Application
You can use Expanded Function J if you want the DOS terminal to display the same form in a
cleared state after each transmission enabling the operator to enter new data. Expanded Function J
relieves the operator from having to manually clear the form each time a message needs to be
composed.
