Wiring the control.
• Connect the
green
dimmer wire to
the bare copper or green ground
wire in the wallbox, if present (see
Important Note 5).
• Using a wire connector, connect
the
black
dimmer wire to either
of the wires removed from the
switch.
• Using a wire connector, connect
the
red
dimmer wire to the
remaining wire removed from the
switch.
• Using a wire connector, cap off
the
red/white
dimmer wire. This
wire is not used in a single pole
circuit.
• Connect the
green
dimmer wire to
the bare copper or green ground
wire in the wallbox, if present
(see Important Note 5).
• Using a wire connector, connect
the
black
dimmer wire to the
wire removed from the different-
colored screw on the switch
(marked or tagged wire). Remove
tag from wire.
• Using a wire connector, connect
the
red
dimmer wire to either
of the remaining wires removed
from the switch.
• Using a wire connector, connect
the
red/white
dimmer wire to the
remaining wire removed from
the switch.

1.
CAUTION:
To avoid overheating and possible damage to other equipment,
do not use to control receptacles, motor-operated or transformer-supplied
appliances.
2. Use only to control Lutron Tu-Wire
®
fluorescent dimming ballasts.
3. For proper dimming performance lamps must be operated at full intensity
for 100 hours prior to dimming.
4. Only one control can be used in a 3-way circuit.
5. When no “grounding means” exist within the wallbox then the NEC
®
2008, Article 404.9 allows a dimmer without a grounding connection to be
installed as a replacement, as long as a plastic, noncombustible wallplate
is used. For this type of installation, cap or remove the green ground wire
on the dimmer and use an appropriate wallplate such as Fassada
®
series
wallplates by
Lutron
.
6. For new installations, wire a test switch before installing the control.
7. Control may feel warm to the touch during normal operation.
8. Install in accordance with all national and local electrical codes.
Multi-Unit Installations
When combining controls in a wallbox, remove all inner side sections prior
to wiring (see below). Use pliers to bend side section up and down until it
breaks off. Repeat for each side section to be removed. Reduction of control
capacity is required. Refer to chart below for maximum control capacity.
