Overall Installation and Test Considerations
Training
Philosophy
No product offering is complete without a formal training package. The Customer
Traiing and Information Products (CTIP) Organization provides management
courses for system planning, engineering, and ordering, as well as courses to
train telecommunications technicians in installation, operations, and maintenance.

Available Courses
The following training courses are provided by the CTIP Organization:

WaveStar™ Optical Line System 40G Applications, Architecture,
Planning and Ordering (LW2252)
Audience: Network planners, product managers, equipment engineers,
technical consultants, account representatives, and personnel requiring a
high-level description of Optical Line System (OLS) network and fiber route
planning.
Prerequisites: A general knowledge of transmission principles and a good
working knowledge of OLS systems, applications, and architecture.
TR0510 — Transmission Principles
TR9203 — Synchronous Optical Network Overview
Content: This course provides in-depth discussions of OLS network
planning and equipment configuration options utilizing the engineering
rules set forth in the WaveStar 40G OLS Applications, Planning, and
Ordering Guide (APOG). The course also includes “how to” lessons for
engineering OLS-based Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM)
networks and detailed discussions of route selection, end terminal and
repeater spacing, loss budget calculations, and associated ordering
information for wired equipment, circuit packs, and cabling.
Course Length: This is a 2-day course.
