Special requirements and recommendations for installation and maintenance
Special requirements and recommendations for installation
and maintenance
Follow these requirements and recommendations for Stinger installation and
maintenance.
Lifting requirements
Use a mechanical lift or at least three people to lift a Stinger chassis for rack
mounting. For more information, see “Setting up the unit” on page 2-2.
Air filter maintenance
In average environments, with a total suspended particle count (TSP) equal to or less
than 35 micrograms per cubic meter, Lucent recommends that air filters be replaced
every three months. For instructions, see “Replacing the air filter” on page 6-14.
In clean environments with a TSP equal to or less than 20 micrograms per cubic
meter the filter has a maximum useful life of 164 days.
In environments with higher TSP counts, the air filter should be changed according
to the following table.
!
Caution
For maximum air flow and cooling, Lucent Technologies recommends that
you do not use an air filter with a Stinger RT unit installed in an outdoor enclosure.
Laser safety
The Lucent Technologies Stinger Compact Remote unit is an FDA/CDRH Class I / IEC
Hazard Level 1 system. Laser circuit packs for use in the Stinger CR are FDA Class I
and IEC Hazard Level 1 devices.
Stinger circuit packs or modules that utilize laser radiation for optical transmission
are Class 1 Optical Fiber Telecommunications laser products that comply with
FDA/CDRH21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11. They meet the safety measures specified in
the United States Food and Drug Administrations’ Center for Devices and
Radiological Health (FDA/CDRH) regulations and international standards IEC-60825
or DIN/EN 60825.
