Overview
This procedure is used to clear an
unexpected or failed
Pluggable Transmission Module
alarm indicated by a lighted
Critical (
CR/MJ
) or Minor (
MN/ABN
) LED on the SYSCTL faceplate,
and reported as critical or minor in the WaveStar
®
CIT Alarm list.
Before you begin
Prior to performing this procedure:

Complete the following steps to clear an
unexpected or failed
Pluggable Transmission Module
alarm.

From the WaveStar
®
CIT System View, click the
Alarm List
button
and locate the
unexpected or failed Pluggable Transmission
Module
alarm in the resulting alarm list.

Determine the alarm level(s) for the active
unexpected or failed
Pluggable Transmission Module
alarm(s) (for example, CR or
MN). Clear the alarms in order of severity, CR (SA) and then MN
(NSA).
Important! The
unexpected or failed Pluggable
Transmission Module
alarm is generally either CR (SA) when
the pluggable transmission module is active (either working and
unprotected or the protection switch failed) or MN (NSA) when
the pluggable transmission module is protected and the protection
switch operated normally.

Refer to the Probable Cause column in your alarm list, and determine
the pluggable transmission module affected and note the
corresponding socket AID.
