Configuring a CellPipe SDSU
Configuring static and default routes

CellPipe™ SDSU User’s Guide
Configuring a static route
You can configure a static route to a destination IP network, as well as the next-hop
router. If a profile specifies the destination address of a host on a remote subnet, but
the packets must be routed through an intermediary device to reach that host (and RIP
is not enabled), you must configure a static route specifying the intermediary device
as the next-hop router.
To configure a static route, proceed as follows:
1
From the Main Menu, select
Configure IP Router
.
2
Select
Add/Remove a Static Route
.
3
Select
Add a Static Route
.
4
Enter the destination address, the network mask, and the IP address of the
gateway.
5
Press Y to save.
6
From the Main Menu, select
Reset System
to put these changes into effect.
Configuring a default route
If no static route exists for the destination address of a packet, the unit forwards the
packet to the default route. A CellPipe CellPipeunit, however, drops packets for
which there is no configured default route.
To configure the default route, proceed as follows:
1
From the Main Menu, select
Configure IP Router
.
2
Select
Add/Remove a Static Route
.
3
Select
Add/Change the Default Route
.
4
Type the gateway address for the default route.
5
Press Y to save.
6
From the Main Menu, select
Reset System
to put these changes into effect.
