Note:
If you press the RETURN key immediately after the prompt, it has the same
effect as entering the
up
command.
If you are at a particular point in the hierarchy and you need to perform a
command elsewhere in the hierarchy, you must enter the slash symbol (/) followed
by the full hierarchical path followed by the command. For example:
This command will list all files in the flash directory while you are in the
hardware
functional group. After the command has been executed you will still be in the
hardware
functional group.
Command hierarchy
The hierarchy of the commands in the BOOT Loader command-line interface can
be obtained at any time by typing
tree
Note:
Certain functional groups in the hierarchy are also commands on their own.
Conventions used to describe commands
Throughout this chapter the following conventions are used:
•
All command examples are given in relation to the root of the hierarchy. That
is, this is how you would enter the command if you were at the root of the
hierarchy.
•
The syntax of commands are described using the symbols displayed in Table
3.2, Chapter 3, How to Use the Command-line Interface.
Using the on-line help
On-line help is always available and can be obtained at any time by typing
help
.
The following information will be displayed:
•
All commands and functional groups available at the current position in the
hierarchy, in alphabetical order.
•
The universal commands. These are commands that are independent of the
hierarchy. They can be executed irrespective of where you are in the hierarchy.
