Configuring the Remote Backup Server
Before you backup the Sybase 12.5.0.1 Server to the remote backup server for the first
time, follow the steps below to complete the configuration process.
On the Sybase Server Workstation:
1.
Log in as the Sybase user by entering:
su - sybase
2.
At the
$
prompt, view the interfaces file by entering:
cat interfaces
3.
Verify that the interfaces file entry for
REMOTE_SYB_BACKUP
on the Sybase
Server is identical to the entry for
REMOTE_SYB_BACKUP
on the remote backup
server.

Note –
If necessary, use a text editor such as vi to cut and paste the entry for
REMOTE_SYB_BACKUP
from the interfaces file on the remote backup server to the
interfaces file on the Sybase Server.
