Transporting the Canto Nxt
Transporting the Canto Nxt
n
The positions of the four attachment points on
the Canto Nxt are indicated with a hook symbol
sticker (see figure 2).
n
Easy access and manoeuvrability in motor vehicles
can be significantly influenced by wheelchair size
and agility. Smaller wheelchairs with a shorter
turning circle generally offer better accessibility
to the vehicle and manoeuvrability to a forward
position. The Canto Nxt was assessed positively
for securability according to ISO 7176-19:2008,
Annex D.
n
The Canto Nxt should be fastened using anchoring
systems that are suitable for the 4 attachment
points.
n
The user must wear a three-point safety belt in the
taxibus. These safety belts must be attached to
the taxibus.
n
The lap belt must be positioned low across the
user’s waist (see figure 3). The angle between the
belt and the floor must be between 30° and 75° (a
bigger angle is better).
n
Pelvic restraints should make full contact across
the front of the body near the junction of the thigh
and pelvis. The upper belt must fully support the
user as illustrated in figure 4.
n
The diagonal belt must be positioned across the
user’s shoulder and chest as shown in figure 5.
n
The belt must be sufficiently tight but not
uncomfortable for the user.
n
The belt must not be twisted.
n
The belt must not be resting against armchair
components (like armrests or wheels) as a result of
which it is no longer fully supporting the body of
the user (see figure 6).
n
If possible, the Canto Nxt should not be
transported in a tilted-back position.
n
The Canto Nxt must be transported with the
user facing forward, with a securing system that
complies with the instructions of the manufacturer
of the securing system.

n
The three-point safety belt is intended to avoid
injury to the head and chest.
n
If a worktop is fitted, it must be removed in order
to prevent injury to other passengers. The worktop
should be safely stowed away elsewhere in the vehicle.
n
If possible, any accessories must be secured or
removed.
n
Following an accident, the wheelchair must be
assessed by a representative of the manufacturer
to ensure that it can still be used.
n
Only lift the wheelchair using fixed frame
components and not removable accessories such
as armrests, legrests seating, back support etc.
n
The attachment points, structural components
and frame components must not be modified or
replaced without first consulting the manufacturer
Seat belt
The seat belt is intended to keep the user in position.
Attach it on or around the metal seat frame.
N.B.:
the optional wheelchair seat belt is not sui-
table for use as a safety belt
Car
In addition to a taxibus, the Canto Nxt can also be
transported folded up in the boot of an estate car.
Read on page 15 how to fold up the wheelchair. The
wheelchair can be lifted into the car by two adults.
