GraphIt

Using the LI-6400
12-5
Finding the Label Line
When GraphIt first runs, it looks for the label line. It does this by looking for
the first line that begins with a particular sequence of characters. The default
target sequence is
"Obs
since Obs is the default first variable stored in OPENÕs data files, and these
labels are quoted. If this target is not found, you will be asked to identify it
using Standard Menu (Figure 12-9 on page 12-11).
Once the label line is identified, Graphit reads the labels; they are used to
identify data columns.
(OPEN 3.2 note) If GraphIt is being run from New Measurements mode, or
from the Recompute program, it ÒknowsÓ what the first label should be, so
you probably will never be asked to locate the label line.
Finding the Data Lines
The data set is assumed to extend from the first data line following the label
line, to the first blank line or the end of the file. If this is not the case, you can
specifically identify the label, first data, and last data lines (described in
on page 12-10). Any line beginning with a double
quote (") is assumed to be a remark, and is skipped when GraphIt is looking
for numeric data. Thus, if you have remark lines sprinkled through your data,
they will be skipped over.
OPEN 3.2 removed this restriction.
Once the label line is identified and read, GraphItÕs main screen appears
(Figure 12-1).
NOTE (OPEN 3.01 and below):
If you include the system
variable "HH:MM:SS" in your data files, be sure it is
not
in
the first column.
