File Exchange Mode
To use EW or any of the FX programs, the LI-6400 must be in File Exchange
Mode. There are three methods of accomplishing this:
1
From the LPL Copyright Screen
Press
X.
2
While OPEN is running
Access the Utility Menu, and select
ÒFile Exchange ModeÓ
.
3
From power off
(Does not work for LPL versions before 2.0.) On your computer, run FX or
type the desired EW command (described below), then when FX or EW is
waiting for the LI-6400, power it on. The LI-6400 will automatically enter
File Exchange Mode. (Note: With WinFX, this technique is tricky, because
there is only a few second window in which the program tries to establish
communications; if it canÕt, it stops trying.)
Using WinFX
WinFX (introduced in May 1999) is the Windows version of FX.
Installation
An installer program is located on the ÒUsing the LI-6400Ó CD (Edition 2). It
can also be downloaded from CORE support in www.licor.com.
The installation program will create a directory named
WinFX
in the
Program
Files
directory on your hard disk, and put a WinFX entry into Windows
Start
®
Programs menu.
