To defragment a disk:
1
Display the Disk function key labels
Press the
disK
function key (or
K
).

Select a disk
Press the
Defrag
function key (or
D
) to display a list of the disks.
Highlight the desired disk, and press enter.

Read the Notice
YouÕll be given a notice that it might take a couple of minutes. Press
Proceed
or
Cancel
.
Formatting Disks
Formatting will erase all files on a disk
. Formatting differs from defragment-
ing, in that defragmenting does
not
erase active files.
Do not format the /SYS
disk
, as it contains system operating files that affect the operation of the
LI-6400. These files can be reloaded from the system floppy disk.

To format a disk:

Access the disk keys
In the FILER, press the
Disk
function key (or
K
).

Select a disk
Highlight the disk to be formatted, and press
enter
.

Read the warning
If itÕs ok to proceed, and loose everything on the disk, press
Proceed
. Other-
wise, press
Cancel
.
Using the Hidden Disk
The hidden data disk is used during defragmentation to temporarily store ac-
tive files from the disk being defragmented. The hidden disk can be used for
temporary data storage if the other disks become full. Note, however, that no
disks can be defragmented if the hidden disk is in use.
NOTE
: If you format the /USER disk, youÕll need to
run the ÒReinstall Config FilesÓ program, found in the
Reset Menu (in the Config Menu).
