Configuring Event Logging

Server IP Address
– Specifies the IPv4 or IPv6 address of a remote server which
will be sent syslog messages.
◆
Port
- Specifies the UDP port number used by the remote server.
(Range: 1-65535; Default: 514)
Web Interface
To configure the logging of error messages to remote servers:
1.
Click Administration, Log, Remote.
2.
Enable remote logging, specify the facility type to use for the syslog messages.
and enter the IP address of the remote servers.
3.
Click Apply.

Sending Simple Mail
Transfer Protocol
Alerts
Use the Administration > Log > SMTP page to alert system administrators of
problems by sending SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) email messages when
triggered by logging events of a specified level. The messages are sent to specified
SMTP servers on the network and can be retrieved using POP or IMAP clients.
Parameters
These parameters are displayed:

SMTP Status
– Enables/disables the SMTP function. (Default: Enabled)

Severity
– Sets the syslog severity threshold level (see table on
) used
to trigger alert messages. All events at this level or higher will be sent to the
configured email recipients. For example, using Level 7 will report all events
from level 7 to level 0. (Default: Level 7)
