To set up an Ethernet network with other participants with linear topology, the BCL 358

makes available
another Ethernet interface. The use of this interface drastically reduces the cabling requirements, as only
the first BCL 358

requires a direct connection to the switch, via which it can communicate with the host.
All other BCL 358

are connected in series to the first BCL 358

, see Figure 7.9.

Ensure adequate shielding. The entire interconnection cable must be shielded and earthed. The
signal lines must be stranded in pairs.
Use CAT 5 cables for the connection.
NOTE
For the BCL 358

as stand-alone device or as the last participant in a linear topology, termination
on the BUS OUT socket is not mandatory!
