Attention!
For UL applications, use is permitted exclusively in Class 2 circuits according to NEC
(National Electric Code).
The BCL 548
i
bar code readers are designed in accordance with safety class III for supply
by PELV (protective extra-low voltage with reliable disconnection).
Connecting functional earth FE
Ensure that the functional earth (FE) is connected correctly. Unimpaired operation is only
guaranteed when the functional earth is connected properly. All electrical disturbances
(EMC couplings) are discharged via the functional earth connection.
Switching input / output
The BCL 548
i
is equipped with four freely programmable, opto-decoupled switching inputs
and outputs
SWIO_1 … SWIO_4
.
The switching inputs can be used to activate various internal functions of the BCL 548
i
(decoding, autoConfig, …). The switching outputs can be used to signal the state of the
BCL 548
i
and to implement external functions independent of the superior control.
The two switching inputs/outputs
SWIO_1
and
SWIO_2
are located on the
SW IN/OUT
M12
socket and are described in chapter 7.2.3. The other two (
SWIO_3
and
SWIO_4
) of the four
freely configurable switching inputs/outputs are located on the
PWR
M12 connector.
Notice!
In general, configuration of the bar code reader takes place on the PROFINET-IO via the cor-
responding GSD file. Alternatively, you can temporarily set the respective function as input
or output via the display or with the aid of the
webConfig
configuration tool for the purpose
of testing the respective functionality. After reconnecting to the PROFINET-IO or after deac-
tivating parameter enabling, the parameter settings set by the PROFINET-IO are again active!
