Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP)
This function is available from SW version 2.10!
The "Media Redundancy Protocol" (MRP) increases the node accessibility. The MRP ensures that all
nodes on the fieldbus can continued to be accessed in case of a simple network downtime. For this
purpose, the line topology is interconnected to a ring.
• All nodes of the ring have to support the MRP.
• One node (e.g. IO controller) assumes the role of the redundancy manager
• The other nodes in the ring are redundancy clients.
• The E94AYCER communication module
from SW version 2.10
can only assume the role of a
redundancy client.

Ring topology for the "Media Redundancy Protocol" (MRP)
The engineering of the media redundancy is exclusively executed via the redundancy manager (e.g.
Simatic hardware manager).
