Applying and releasing time
[8-1]
Chronological sequence of the brake output signal
Tip!
The application and release times do not only vary between the brake types but
also depend on the basic conditions in the plant:
• Parameters of the hardware (cable length, temperature, level of supply voltage
etc.)
• Contact elements used (contactor at the digital output)
• Type of overvoltage limitation/suppressor circuit
For optimisation purposes, detect in individual cases the response times by
measurement.
Danger!
A wrong setting of the closing and opening times can cause a faulty control of
the brake!
• If the application time is set too low, the controller is inhibited and the drive
becomes torqueless before the brake is applied completely.

Every mechanical holding brake comes
with a construction-conditioned
application and release time which
must be considered by the holding
.
The application and release time of the
Lenze holding brake is indicated in the
supplied operating instructions in the
"Technical data" chapter.
If the applying and releasing times are
too long, this is uncritical in respect of
safety but leads to unnecessarily long
delays during cyclical braking
processes.
