Technical rules for HBA/RAID adapters
The following are installation rules to install HBA/RAID adapters:
• If you plan to use the RAID 530-8i adapter in the server, it must have firmware 50.3.0-1032 or later applied
before it can be used in the server. If the adapter you plan to use has older firmware, it must first be
upgraded by installing it in a supported server and upgrading the firmware there. For more information,

• If a 730-8i 2G, 930-8i, 930-16i, 930-8e or 930-16e RAID adapter is installed, a super capacitor must be
installed.
• 730-8i 2G RAID adapter cannot be mixed with other types of HBA/RAID adapters.
• 730-8i 1G RAID adapter cannot be mixed with 530-8i, 730-8i 2G, or 930-8i RAID adapter.
• When a 730-8i 1G or 530-8i RAID adapter installed, no super capacitor is supported.
• HBA adapter cannot be mixed with RAID adapter. However, for the configuration of eight 2.5 SAS/SATA
drives in front bays and two 2.5 SAS/SATA drives in rear bays, you can select 530-8i RAID adapter for
front drives and 430-8i for rear drives.
• For PCIe SSD adapter:
– Only high-performance fan can be installed.
– The TDP for supported processor is 120/155 watts.
Technical rules for PCIe NVMe adapter
The following notes describe the type of PCIe adapters that your server supports and other information that
you must consider when you install a PCIe adapter.
• For PCIe NVMe adapter:
– Three PCIe NVMe adapters can be supported and installed in PCIe slot 1, 2, and 3.
– High-performance fan should be selected, and the supported ambient temperature is up to 35°C.
– Supported processor TDP is 120/155 watts.
Technical rules for Ethernet adapters
The following are rules to be followed when the server is configured with Ethernet adapters.
• When the processor default TDP is 280 watts :
– Ethernet adapters with AOC are not supported in PCIe slot 2.
– 10/25 GbE Ethernet adapters are supported when standard fans are installed.
– 100/200 GbE Ethernet adapters are supported when performance fans are installed.
– 10/25 GbE Ethernet adapters with AOC are supported in PCIe slot 1 or 3 when the ambient
temperature is less than 30°C.
– 100/200 GbE Ethernet adapters are supported in PCIe slot 1 or 3 when the ambient temperature is less
than 30°C.
• When the processor default TDP is equal to or less than 225 watts:
– 100/200 GbE Ethernet adapters are supported when performance fans are installed.
– 100/200 GbE Ethernet adapters are supported when the ambient temperature is less than 30°C.
Notes:
The following adapters require a full-height bracket and must be installed in a full-height slot:
